The operator of payments by Internet Paypal, subsidiary of the online distributor EBay, is going to throw in Europe a system intended for the small shopkeepers and allowing to regulate purchases with a bank card with flea, through a mobile phone.
According to a message published on the official blog of Paypal, he will first be introduced in the United Kingdom, where some dealers will begin having access there "in next months" and when he will be generalised " this summer ". The system will be spread later in other countries using bank cards with flea.
The system, called "Paypal Here", is a declension of that of the same name thrown in the United States last year for cards with magnetic tape, but Paypal adapted it to cards with fleas, more used in Europe.
In concrete terms, the dealer will have to download a Mobile application and order a small case to synchronise with his mobile phone (iPhone or Android), and which will be of use for him for accepting card payments and for sending bills.
The dealer will have to pay the price of the case, which Paypal promises "competitive", as well as a "small load for every transaction", according to the blog. Their sums are not specified at the moment.
"The mobile readers of credit card seem to answer a true need of the market: a simple and practical means for small trade to accept card payments without credit to be invested in expensive terminals of payment", underlines Paradise Zoller, analyst of the consulting firm Ovum.
Ovum notes that the version of Paypal Here for cards with magnetic tape, was received well in the United States and that it is logical to develop a version adapted to smart cards, even if the European market is more and more competitive.
"The United Kingdom is the logical place to begin because it is the second biggest market of Paypal after the United States, with 18 million active users", judges Paradise Zoller.
